Axolotl's breath with their pink gills! CAL staff decided to dress-up like Lola, our very own axolotl who lives in an aquarium in CAL's cell. Looking good upper grade teachers!!
This is just a sneak peak of our pumpkin project! Be looking for more photos! These will be out on display for conferences next week!!
Kinders designed masks for the kinderbots! Then they practiced coding their bots to move from house to house! Their kinderbots were trick or treating!
More 3rd grade Dracula fun! P.B.I.S. celebration...
Lately, 3rd grade has been scoring 4's and 5's on our class "effort-meter." We celebrated with Dracula Donut Dash games, and Dracula donuts, of course!
6th grade was introduced to their flight team roles today: pilot, spotter, safety officer, and mechanic. Their mission today: launch and land their drone using their launch pads they created. Our time was limited so more to come on this!
Another step in our 2nd/5th grade collaboration focused on diverse organisms and their habitats!
CAL 6th graders are looking for volunteers to read their finished writing assignments and to get feedback for them. If you would like to volunteer to be emailed a 6th grader's writing assignment, please send your email address to Mrs. Barrick at barrickh@cal.k12.ia.us or Mrs. State at statek@cal.k12.ia.us. Assignments will be emailed from the classroom teachers and you could expect to see about 2-4 emails per month.
2nd grade has been researching diverse organisms across a variety of habitats. They focused on what specific habitats are like and unique features of organisms. There is a very exciting collaboration project beginning between 2nd and 5th grade! Look forward to more photos of our end results in the coming days!
Kindergarten read the story Five Little Pumpkins and then they were challenged to create a fence that could hold 5 little pumpkins using only cardboard, clothespins, and toilet paper tubes! Their fence had to all be connected, they couldn’t hold the pumpkins with their hands, and the pumpkins couldn’t touch the tables! We had 3 successful groups!!
Morning meeting games help get our days started with giggles in 3rd grade!
1st grade enjoyed playing word baseball today in reading to practice their tricky works (words they can’t sound out)!
Some of the new fish glow in the dark!!
4 year old preschool was challenged with building a tower taller than themselves today! After we were done building, we discovered some patterns in our towers such as starting with big items on the bottom or containers going upside down, then right side up, then upside down, and on and on.
