4th Grade played an awesome addition game with our Sphero Bolts! They worked on coding an algorithm, troubleshooting and debugging, as well as their multi-digit addition with regrouping skills!

1st grade discussed sun and shadows today in science!

3rd graders ponder what forces are at work when observing "the floating paperclip."
Words to consider: gravity, pull, balanced, magnetic force
**students drew diagrams to assist when explaining their thinking

More photos of 2nd grade working hard to make french fries and mashed potatoes!

2nd grade students peeled and chopped potatoes from the school garden today. They worked hard to make french fries and mashed potatoes.

After learning about air in science, 1st graders were challenged with designing a parachute that could successfully land an egg when dropped. After looking at designs, making changes and doing test drops holding at least 40 grams (because that was how much one of our eggs from the farm weighed) students finally got to test today! Nearly all of our parachutes were successful when dropped on grass! We had a few successful when dropped on cement! Next week we are going to look at the parachutes that were successful to analyze what made them successful!

1st grade enjoyed one last guest speaker today about goods and services! My brother talked about farming corn and soybeans and livestock- chicken, cows, and pigs!

More 3rd grade presentation posters about the five animal groups of vertebrates.

Fancy loves library checkout day! There’s so many kids for her to visit while they read in the CELL!

3rd grade presentation posters about the 5 animal groups of vertebrates.

4th grade has been using block coding with Sphero Bolts. Today they were challenged with moving their Sphero in a square. Block coding with the Spheros is new to our students. They use angles, speed, and time to program their Spheros to do certain things.

Today in innovation club the kindergartners worked on writing step by step instructions to complete a task. This is called an algorithm! Today they cut out arrows and had to select the correct arrows to move a character to a fruit in a certain box. Algorithms are part of our computer science standards.

2nd graders have been learning about algorithms and how to write an algorithm for an activity as well as an algorithm for a robot. Today in innovation club, they wrote the algorithm for how to make French fries and mashed potatoes. They are going to be using potatoes from our school garden that they planted in 1st grade to follow the algorithm tomorrow! Stay tuned for results!

Kindergarteners are learning about questions! As a class, they came up with three questions to ask a partner:
What is your favorite color?
What is your favorite food?
What is your favorite animal?
Then they drew pictures and wrote down their partner’s answers to share with the class!
