2nd grade is preparing to publish some of their writing in social studies. To do this, they are going to use Canva. In Innovation Club, part of our computer science standards is learning about how to use different types of software. Today, 2nd graders got to explore how to use an app, a type of software, called Canva! They got to design a postcard with their name on it, add images about themselves, add backgrounds, etc. Look for photos of their finished products to come!

3rd grade is continuing to explore force in Innovation Club. 3rd graders were challenged to create a maze for a marble. They can only move the marble through the maze using magnetic force. We will share our designs next Innovation Club. Then students are going to connect their mazes together to form a giant maze.

After learning about air in science, 1st graders were challenged with designing a parachute that could successfully land an egg when dropped. After looking at designs, making changes and doing test drops holding at least 40 grams (because that was how much one of our eggs from the farm weighed) students finally got to test today! Nearly all of our parachutes were successful when dropped on grass! We had a few successful when dropped on cement! Next week we are going to look at the parachutes that were successful to analyze what made them successful!

4th grade has been using block coding with Sphero Bolts. Today they were challenged with moving their Sphero in a square. Block coding with the Spheros is new to our students. They use angles, speed, and time to program their Spheros to do certain things.

Today in innovation club the kindergartners worked on writing step by step instructions to complete a task. This is called an algorithm! Today they cut out arrows and had to select the correct arrows to move a character to a fruit in a certain box. Algorithms are part of our computer science standards.
